IND vs AUS 4th Test: Major Changes in Australian Team with 19-Year-Old Sam Constable’s Debut
The next two Test matches between India and Australia will be held in Melbourne and Sydney. The Boxing Day Test will begin in Melbourne on December 26. Before that, Cricket Australia has announced the squad for the remaining two Tests. Surprisingly, 19-year-old young batsman Sam Constable has been included in the Australian team for the first time.
Australia’s squad for the final two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, to be held in Melbourne and Sydney, has been announced. Nathan McSweeney, who opened with Usman Khawaja in the first three Tests, has been dropped. In his place, 19-year-old Sam Constable has been included in the Australian team for the first time. Constable’s exceptional performances this season have earned him his maiden call-up.
Sam Constable, who impressed by scoring back-to-back centuries against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield, also scored a century in a practice match against India A. In the Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder, he hit 56 runs off 27 balls in the opening match. He also scored 88 runs against Western Australia. Despite this, it is uncertain whether Constable will play in the MCG Test for Australia, as Josh Inglis is listed as a backup batter and is expected to be the first choice.
Additionally, another significant change has been made to the squad. Star bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the last two Tests of the series due to injury. Hazlewood got injured during the third Test in Brisbane. He has been replaced by fast bowler Jhye Richardson, who has played only 3 Test matches so far. Richardson has taken a total of 11 wickets in those 3 Tests against Sri Lanka and England.
