Cancer Vaccine: Ready, Russia’s Achievement in Medical Science, Vaccine to Be Free

The Russian Ministry of Health has announced the development of a cancer vaccine. It has also stated that it will be provided free of charge to its citizens. Andrei Kaprin, head of the National Medical Research Radiological Center under the Russian Ministry of Health, mentioned that the vaccine distribution will begin in early 2025.
This vaccine is intended for the treatment of cancer patients. However, it will not be used for preventing tumor formation. Like the cancer vaccines being developed in Western countries, each dose will be customized for individual patients, according to Russian scientists. This has been reported by The Times of India.
However, details regarding the specific types of cancer this vaccine targets, its effectiveness, or how Russia plans to implement it are still unclear. Moreover, the name of the vaccine has not yet been disclosed.

Cancer rates are increasing in Russia, as in other parts of the world. Over 635,000 cancer cases were recorded in 2022. Colon, breast, and lung cancers are reported to be the most common in Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously mentioned that the country’s scientists are working on a cancer vaccine, which is in its final stages. He stated, “We are very close to the creation of cancer vaccines and a new generation of immunomodulatory drugs.”
Other countries are also working on developing personalized cancer vaccines. In May, researchers at the University of Florida were testing vaccines on four patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia developed its own Sputnik V vaccine for COVID-19 and sold it to several countries.
